English Story For Adults: I Am The God?

A life journey is different for every individual, whether it is for me or you. Most of the time, the journey defines how your mindset is going to be. It helps all of us build individual character.

And the fact is “Struggles in life keep you humble. Whereas extreme luxury builds ego.”

If you doubt this, then I have a story to tell.Sameer Naik is the only son of one of India’s richest business tycoons – Rajendra Naik.

Rajendra Naik has been in the real estate industry for 35 years. He is the founder of the renowned Naik Group. Naik Group is known for constructing high-end residential & commercial developments.

The Naik family is wealthy and has a net worth of thousands of crores. As an only son to Rajendra and his wife, both raised Sameer with utmost love, super luxury, and comfort.

However small or big, Sameer’s desires were, his parents always fulfilled them. This made him lazy, careless & egoistic over time.

One fine day, Sameer was going to school by car. His driver was driving a car. Later, they got stuck in traffic for around 30 minutes. He faced this challenge many times previously. But that day he lost his patience & ordered his driver to drive back to the house.

As he reached home, his mother asked him out of concern, “Sameer, what happened? Why did you come back home?” Sameer demanded – “I want a helicopter. Tomorrow onwards, I will be going to school by helicopter only, not by car.”

His mom tried to convince him that it is not that easy, school rules & regulations don’t comply with his demand. But he was stubborn about his decision. This was the first time she felt concerned about Sameer’s extreme desires.

Within a day, Rajendra owned a new helicopter & took every necessary permission required to land on the school’s playground. The next day, Sameer went to school by helicopter & it landed in the school’s garden.

All the school students & teachers were amazed to see this. His friends & classmates were praising his idea & shared how surprised they were to see him. This made him gain recognition among all the individuals in the school.

Later on, every day he was reaching school by helicopter itself. And this was the first time his pride & ego were boosted.

Do you think Sameer will stop here? Never. It was just the beginning for him.

When Sameer was 25 years old, he thought of living a life of own rules. To begin with, he owned a huge luxurious mansion from his father’s money.

We put name plates outside our house to help people know us. But Sameer had a different idea, he introduced himself stating – I AM THE GOD. This used to build curiosity among all the people crossing & that’s what Sameer wanted.

Even though he lives alone in a mansion, he still has 10 house helpers. For all of them, he had a rule: whether it was morning, afternoon, or midnight, once he called one among them, he or she should appear in front of him in 30 seconds. Otherwise, he used to shout and disrespect them or remove them from the job.

He has been like this with many people. One day, he was travelling to Dubai for his friend’s (Vicky) bachelor party on his private jet. The moment the jet landed in Dubai, Sameer’s friend came & picked him up in a car to his house. Whereas, the pilot stayed in the nearest hotel.

Vicky invited the pilot as well for the party through a phone call. But the pilot refused initially; however, Vicky convinced him in the end. Sameer was unaware of this. When the pilot reached Vicky’s house for dinner, Sameer was a bit shocked & angry, but he didn’t say anything.

Now they are all about to sit down for dinner. The pilot sat facing each other to Sameer at the dining table. This was unbearable to Sameer, he stood up & shouted at the pilot saying – “You are my pilot, my servant. How did you dare to sit in front of me & have dinner with me? You have forgotten your limits. Get out of the house. Right now.”

Vicky tried to calm down Sameer but it didn’t work out. The pilot stood up from the chair & walked out of the house feeling humiliated & disrespected. Later Sameer & his friends had dinner & continued partying.

The next day, the pilot & Sameer left Dubai in the afternoon on the private jet. They successfully travelled an approximately 2200 km distance which is around 3-4 hours.

And they are about to land in India in the next 30-45 minutes. By then the pilot found a major problem & he informed Sameer – “Sir, we have a critical emergency. Due to severe mechanical failure, the plane’s left engine has completely shut down. The right engine has also lost all oil pressure.

Without oil, the engine will seize within moments. Both engines are rapidly losing power. I can’t keep the jet in the air for more than a few minutes. Also, we are not within the range of any nearest airport.

Our glide path is also taking us through mountainous terrain. So, there is no suitable flat ground nearby for an emergency landing.

To be honest, survival is no longer possible. I’m truly sorry.”

Sameer replied – “How is this happening all of a sudden? Don’t we have any solution for this fatal crash?”

The pilot replied – “No sir. I am trying every way possible to save us from this crash.”

Sameer went inside in fear. He started shivering due to tension. He was unable to imagine the consequences of the crash. He went down on his knee, joined his hands, tears started rolling from his eyes, and fear was visible in his face. Later he said – “God please save me. What did I do to you? Somehow save me, God. Please save me. Please. I don’t want to die.”

The pilot noticed all of this & in the end, he found a way to land the plane safely. Later, he came out of the flight deck and stood in front of Sameer. When Sameer opened his eyes & noticed the plane landed safely, he looked at the pilot’s face in shock.

The pilot replied – “Once both the engines stopped, I kept the jet gliding as far as possible. I looked for a valley & used the ground to slow down the plane. And I landed the plane on a flat riverbank with the wheels up & we are safe now.” Sameer was still not able to believe that he was alive.

That day, Sameer learnt a big lesson. He disrespected the pilot at a friend’s party, but still managed to save his life. He realised to treat everyone with care & respect, whether the person is a house helper or a wealthy person.
